    The challenge with scanning photos in albums is glare. Plastic sleeves, glass covers, laminate overlays, and the raised surface of mounted photos all create reflections that ruin a scan. Previous solutions involved removing photos from the album — but for many precious albums, that's simply not an option.

    Capture developed and patented 8-Layer Glare Removal Technology — a multi-pass scanning system that captures the album page at eight different illumination angles and exposure profiles, then composites them algorithmically to produce a single glare-free, shadow-free, colour-accurate image of every photo on the page.

    The result: 240 megapixels of image data per album page — enough resolution to extract individual photos at print quality, correct colour fading, and deliver files that look better than the original physical print in many cases.

    Bound or ring-bound albums with photos inserted into plastic sleeves, magnetic peel-off pages, or glued directly to the page. Any era from the 1950s to the 2000s. We accept albums up to 14" × 14".

    Mixed-media pages containing photos alongside newspaper clippings, tickets, invitations, handwritten notes, and decorative elements. Our full-page scanning captures the entire layout — not just the photos in isolation.

    Fragile & Vintage Albums

    Albums where removing photos would risk tearing the paper, disturbing aged adhesive, or damaging brittle pages. Our touchless process was specifically designed for these — no contact with the photo surface is required.

    Our semi-automated scanning workflow begins with a manual inspection of every album. This matters — because not all album pages are the same. Some have plastic sleeves; some have glass-front covers; some have mixed-media pages with different reflective surfaces. Our technicians identify the right scanning profile for each page before it enters the system.

    The 8-Layer Glare Removal system then captures each page across multiple illumination passes. The resulting composite image contains no glare, no hotspots, and no shadow artifacts from the album binding. From this master composite, individual photos are extracted, colour-corrected, and packaged as separate JPEG files — one file per photo.

    For scrapbook pages with mixed content, we also provide full-page layout scans so the context and arrangement of the page is preserved.
