    Standard 8mm (also called Regular 8 or Double 8) was introduced by Kodak in 1932 as a lower-cost alternative to 16mm for home moviemakers. The film is actually 16mm-wide stock that was exposed on half the width, rewound, then exposed on the other half — producing a frame that is 7.5mm across after splitting and splicing.

    If your reels are small (3–5 inch diameter) and the sprocket holes appear on both sides of the strip, you almost certainly have standard 8mm. Common reel sizes are 50ft, 100ft, and 200ft. We handle all standard 8mm variants, including Double Super 8 (DS8).
